Kingfisher office opens in Sydney
Kingfisher Airlines has opened an office in Sydney, again raising speculation that Australia is on the radar for the Indian carrier. Sources indicated last year that the airline was interested in flying Down Under by late 2010, with Perth and Sydney under consideration. The creation of a Sydney office is seen as the possible first step in launching flights. Bangalore-based Kingfisher currently operates to Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong. Kingfisher has appointed Global Aviation Services as its local representatives with two staff employed. Ian Turpin, pricing and distribution manager, described Kingfisher as ambitious and keen to extend its network. But he said he was unaware of any concrete plans. The task of the local office will be to create a suite of fares for the industry and consumers.
