HRAR in talks with DoT, Govt of Rajasthan to organize month long cultural event during CWG 2010

In a bid to promote the cultural aspect of Rajasthan, Hotel & Restaurant Association of Rajasthan (HRAR) is in talks with Department of Tourism (DoT), Government of Rajasthan to organize a month long cultural event in the state during Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2010. Besides, HRAR will also organize a B2B seminar in association with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) during CWG 2010 for travel suppliers (travel agents, tour operators, hoteliers, attraction operators, etc.) focusing on opportunities in tourism and the best way to tap it.

Divulging further details, Hemant Mittal, President, HRAR said, “As an association, we are looking at various avenues to extract opportunities during CWG for the tourism industry in Rajasthan. Known for culture and hospitality, we are keen on promoting these aspects to the visitors during CWG. A month long or 15 days event focused on local culture and handicrafts industry will not only entertain travelers but also attract more visitors to the state.” Recently, Conde Nast Traveller ranked the state’s luxury train – Palace on Wheels as fourth best among the top ten luxury trains of the world. In March 2010, Dubai-based Lama Tours launched desert safaris in Jaisalmer. According to the association, these facts will further enhance the footfall numbers to the state.

Mittal added, “Rajasthan is one of the most popular states in India for tourism. Due to a close proximity from the host city, Rajasthan has the potential to attract maximum number of tourists during and post CWG. Travel operators and service providers need to understand the opportunities and find appropriate ways to make better business prospects. The seminar will not only help operators understand the opportunities offered by CWG but also provide them with solutions.”
