Domestic flights to begin operations from Terminal 3 at New Delhi’s IGIA from October 30, 2010
According to an IANS report, domestic flights will start operating from the newly built Terminal 3 (T3) at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) from October 30, 2010, to ensure seamless transfer of international passengers.
An official from Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said that the first domestic flight is scheduled to take off from Terminal 3 at 5 am on October 30, 2010. All Full Service Carriers (FSCs) including Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines will start flying from Terminal 3 to different cities across the country from the same day.
Terminal 1A will be closed from October 30, 2010 onwards. Low Cost Carriers (LCCs) like GoAir, SpiceJet and IndiGo will operate from terminals T1C and T1D following the closing of Terminal 1A. Terminal 3 built by GMR-led consortium Delhi International Airport Ltd, was opened for international flights on July 14, 2010. Operation of domestic flights from Terminal 3 will substantially reduce passenger transfer time and make New Delhi an airline hub.
