Celebs flock to launch of Kerala Tourism film

Kerala Tourism premiered a £250,000 film at the Saatchi Gallery in London this week

The film, entitled Your Moment is Waiting, was watched by a host of celebrities including Anna Friel, Gary and Danielle Lineker, Konnie Huq, Didier Drogba, Dougray Scott, Jade Jagger and Coronation Street’s Shobna Gulati. They were greeted by a host of paparazzi and will help generate publicity for the destination.

The film took nine months to create and is being broadcast in cinemas from today.

Meanwhile, Jamaica has created the world’s first promotional film entirely in 3D. In the making since January, the film follows the flight of the island’s national bird, the Doctor bird, and showcases activities including swimming with horses, zip-lining and bobsledding through the rainforests.

The film, available on visitjamaica.com, can be watched on any screen but requires 3D glasses that agents can order on the website.

A second, shorter version of about 30 to 45 seconds has also been created, which will be adapted for cinema screens.

Esther Smith, executive secretary of tourist board body Antor, said it was now even more important for destinations to stand out.

“Destinations are being more inventive with their campaigns because they know they have to fight for tourists who are travelling less. They don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel and expect to have a tough time for the next two to three years,” she said.
