Air India operates 60 per cent of its flight capacity

Air India is offering discounted tickets in a bid to regain its lost market share after a pilots' strike crippled operations for 10 days. The national carrier will sell tickets at 10-20% discount till May 12 for travel through the month.

The airline has yesterday increased its domestic operations by flying over 60 per cent of its daily services as ticket bookings picked up gradually after the ten-day pilots' strike.

The national carrier operated 190 out of its 320 scheduled flights till 1700 hours today with its narrow-bodied aircraft, offering a little over 60 per cent of its normal capacity. This amounted to about 25,000 seats on its network in the domestic sector and on flights to neighbouring countries.

"We are confident of resuming full normal operations in the next 36 hours," said an Air India spokesperson, adding that, the special fares are attracting fliers.
